Two Blower Speed Switches for Geo Prizm
I have a bad blower speed switch in a Geo Prizm, and according to the parts dealer, both Kojima Press and Lake Center Industries made the heater/AC control and the associated switch. The only way they told me to tell is to look at a manufacturer stamp behind the faceplate. It seems a VIN number series should tell, unless they completely intermixed them. Can anyone help?

The VIN number wont work for that. Why do you think the switch is bad..are you missing just certain speeds? Could be a bad resistor block. Also if the switch is actually bad it may have melted the connector on the wiring harness and you'll need to check that. Best thing is to pull the control asm out and check for the manufacturer of the switch and the connector, otherwise the resistor block will be located over in the A/C plenum or heater box. you might also be able to get a switch at someplace like NAPA..they might even have pictures in their Buyers Guide.

Go by what the dealer says---the parts catalogs have those notes for a reason.
That is because that is the ONLY way to identify what's in your vehicle. These vehicles use parts from many sources/vendors which are seldom interchangeable.
Pull the control and look for the mark. As Stevo said, make sure the switch is your problem. The year of the Prizm would be a help too.
