frount end alignment

I have a 99 VW Passat that doesen't steer as well as my 96 VW Passat in that the steering wheel doesn't return to center when coming out of a small turn or when making small corrections. I think this is normal for this car, but is there some adjustment I can do to improve this situation.

Sounds like the steering on the'99 is just tighter. Don't know if that's common to that model or not. Does it track straight down the road on a straight and level? Nothing you can really do d-i-y, but you could have the alignment checked at your local garage just to make sure.

Agree with TowGuy.

No, alignment/suspension work is not DIY work without specialized equipment.

My experience with these cars is that is normal, like TowGuy said the steering is just tight. I have worked on lots of this particular model and year and they are all the same way.
