water pump

i have a 88 pontiac grand am 2.5 l engine. i'm trying to replace the water pump but cant get the pulley off and the bottom screws that are behind the pulley. i have the special tool j25034 are there any suggestions.

Head to the parts store and rent the special tool to get the pulley off. The bolts; bigger wrench?, plasma torch?, more beer???

Isn't the pulley held onto the water pump by 3 13mm bolts?
There then should be 4 13mm bolts holding the water pump to the block. It may be easier to gain access by removing the alternator, and set it aside until the new pump is installed.
