Transmission leaking

My 1992 Ford Ranger XLT w/ 5 speed manual transmission is leaking. It was leaking at the rear tail of the transmission. I called Fod Dealer and was told there is no gasket for it, to just use permatex. I did that and it still leaked. I pulled it again/cleaned and made my own gasket which I put in and permatexed on both sides. It still leaks, although not as much. Someone mentioned I should check to see if the vents are plugged. Has anyone anyone out there ever unplugged them? The transmission is a Mazda F17A KB A546035. Anyone have any input? Can't figure out why is is still leaking after all of that. I can't seeme to see why it is still leaking.

See if Felpro has a seal or gasket for this application. They often have "Problem Solver" parts for known trouble applications.

Are you absolutely positive that is where it is leaking from? Sounds to me more like a rear seal leaking. I would check that first. Or, worse yet you could have a front seal leaking.
