'97 Dodge Neon -ground straps

I've noticed while doing an oil change that 2 ground straps were not connected.
The car starts and runs fine. A few questions;
what is their function? Is it dangerous to drive while they are not connected? Can new ones be obtained at a parts store or are they dealer only?

Thank you!
Frank

One strap goes from under the underhood fuse box to a metal piece over the transmission.

the 2nd one is attatched to a strut tower i forget what the other point is connected with.

thans for the quick reply!

Some are redundant grounds, those don't sound like them.

I'd get a wiring diagram and see where they go. Was the vehicle in an acccident or purchased used?
