Stiff Selector

Hello,
1991 toyota p/u 4 cyl. 135000 KM 4 speed automatic

Recently the selector is hard to move.
I have lubed the linkage, and no difference.
This past weekend, I let go the linkage from the arm on the side of the transmission, this arm is very hard to move.
What could be causing this.
Cheers
JP

Rust and corrosion. Lube it well with a good lubricant and it should free up.

Hey Joe,
All the linkage moves freely.
When I took the linkage off the arm on the side of the transmission, the gear shift moved easily.
I tried moving the arm on the side of the transmission, this was very stiff, I lubed it, still no easier.
It sounds and feels like theres some resistance inside the transmission.
What'a ya think!
Cheers
