Battery Terminals-

My car wouldn't start so tried to jump from other car without any luck.

Dome and instrument panel lights work.

My cables are attached to side terminals.

Hope this isn't too foolish of a question, but can you charge from top terminals that do not have the cables?

It's almost impossible to 'grip' the posts on side with jumper cables or battery charger.

I just learned my problem could be the starter though instead of battery. I'm having car towed and will find out later today the problem.

But, still interested in the battery and cables and posts.

Thanks for help.

If I understand what you are saying to be that you have a battery that has top AND side post terminals, then yes you can connect the jumper cables/charger to the top posts. They are connected to the battery in the same way as the side posts. This just makes the battery multi-application.
Hope this helps,
Billy

Billy,
That's exactly what I have. Two sets of terminals. I appreciate the quick reply.

Yes that is just a universal, dual terminal battery, it works both ways as it's used in many applications.

Delco used to call these "DT" styles (Dual Terminal).
