Pontiac 2.2L???
Hi,
I just bought my daughter a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire with the 2.2L motor. It has 79,000 miles on it.Its her first car.
Could you tell me a little bit about the most common problems with this car, motor?
The car seems to be in good cond. Are the motors decent?
The car came with no owners manual, where on the web can I find fluid capacities, etc for this car? Thanks
I plan on changing the oil and filter every 3,000 miles. Can you recomend a good oil filter? And filter number for this motor? Thanks again....

New owner's manual: www.helminc.com probably about $10 for one.
It will have the filter and fluid information you want. I believe that uses a PF47 AC Delco filter. Use those.
The car is crude, lackluster, and rough around the edges, but will get the job done.
I own a 1989 Cavalier (also a J body like this). Your version is not much improved in quality over mine. LOL .
It will get the job done, just due regular maintenance as you have planned. Follow the recommendations in the owner's guide when you get it.
