Brake Light Switch

On my daughters 1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe V-6 the brake lights don't work. The bulbs and fuse to the brakes are all good. We have been told that if the cruise control doesn't work then the switch is bad, which it doesn't work. Is the case or is there somethying else I should look into?

Thanks,

John

Yup, sounds like a bad brake light switch. A couple of bucks at any parts store.

the reason for the cruise not working might be a brake light switch(or a dozen other things) the brake light switch supplies power to the cruise control servo vent(holding it closed) when that is interrupted, it has no choice but to kick the cruise off(a good failsafe) , seeing as you have no brake lights, all the more reason to suspect the switch, a very easy job to replace and adjust correctly, look up under the dash with a flashlight and it should be right there at the top of the pedal. you might want to bring the old one with you to the parts store(or dealer) to make sure you get the right one with the correct amount or terminals

let us know what you do
