98 Chevy Blazer Electric window repair

Drivers side electric window is intermittent - gets stuck in up position. If you run window up and keep the up button pushed in when it reaches top it just makes a clicking noise instead of just stopping. That seems to tell me that maybe there is some kind of limit switch that is not working? Sometimes it gets stuck there for days and sometimes it works for days. the output voltage from the up-down switch is good - 12v on one wire when you push up and 12 volts on another wire when you push down. I just feel like there is some kind of limit switch or relay that is flaky. the motor is riveted into place. Any ideas?

From what you have described, it sounds like the gear head/gear on the motor has striped. If I remember correctly, these gears are nylon or plastic material.

Sounds plausible to me. PW repair can be a bear to do. In many cases, the glass/regulator have to come out of the door for service. Nasty work .
