Power Antenna
My mother in law has a 1999 Olds Regency. I stopped to check on her and found the power antenna trying to unsucessfully lower itself. It just kept running. I could not find a fuse to disable it. ( I pulled every fuse under the driver side dash) I know there is another fuse box for relays, but I didnt get into that one. I pulled out the jack mount and found the plug and disabled it there. Two questions. Where is the fuse that would have cut the power to this antenna, and is this thing repairable, or should I just replace the whole unit?

If the antena is in the rear, next to the trunk, open the trunk, pull back the "felt lining" and you'll see the power relay for the antena right there at the base of the antena mast..

Well that is where I unplugged the power wire, at the base of the antenna. I was just surprised it wasnt fused in the main fuse box. Are these antennas worth disasembling to fix, or is it smarter to just get a new one? Is the reason the motor kept running because the relay was not working properly?

If the antena mast appears to work properly, meaning it will still travel up and down normally, then I'd try for another relay. If the mast is loose and wobbly, then I'd replace the whole assembly..
I miss read your origanal post, and didn't read that you;d actually unplugged the relay already.. Sorry!!! Some cars like this are fused through the radio..Pull that fuse, and it kills the power to the antena too... With out a manual of sorts, I'm like you, not sure...

Original poster: Not all Delco SlimLine antennas have serviceable parts. Older ones do, like the one in my 79 Trans Am. If they are serviceable, frankly, it's not worth it. I've repaired them, can be a real PITA.
I'd have to have the parts breakdown in front of me to tell you if they service it or not, but a dealer's parts counter can surely tell you with 4 mouseclicks .
Get a new one through Gmpartsdirect.com if it's wasted. As MSA said, a stuck relay is a real possibility.

Well the radio fuse idea sounded like a good one, but as I said, I pulled EVERY fuse trying to stop the damn thing originally, and finally had to disconnect it at the base of the antenna to stop the motor from running. GM parts counter sounds like the next logical move, and I appreciate all your help!
