2000 Ford Taurus SES

My dad has a 2000 Ford Taurus SES with a 3.0 liter engine. He wants to install a new Battery. Is there any procedure he should be aware of someone told him that it might have an effect on the computer.
After the new battery is installed should he let the car idle to reset the driving parameters? If so for how long? Or should he just get in and drive as normal? Thanks all for the help.

I've installed new batteries on OBDII cars with no problems. Just had to reset the radio presets .

just a little advice.

Disconnect the negative cable first, then the positive.

Connect the positive first and then the negative.

The negative is the ground. So you always want the ground disconnected first and connected last.
