Replacing my thermostat

Hello.. i have a 1986 Chevy Spectrum....i need to replace my thermostat...i started to loosen the bolts on the car and anti-freeze started to come out...is that normal......and how much am i gonna loose.... am i supposed to drain it out first....thanks RAY

put a clean drain pan under it, whatever comes out--pour back in

Sure. Drain a few inches out of the radiator (take the cap off and watch the level go down as you are draining it.

Now would be a good time to change the coolant anyhow.
