ford window

95 ford windstar, with power windows. the drivers side window went down and wouldn't go up. If I press the up button I get nothing the down button causes a double click from under the dash. I need to know if I can get the window up until I can get it in for service later this week.

Try rapping on the door panel with your hand as you hit the button. Sometimes that will do it.

Also make sure the fuse isn't blown for the power windows.

The noise you hear when you press the button in the 'down' direction is the 'one touch down' relay. The noise is normal.

Your motor may be stuck, or the switch contacts could be bad. If it's the motor, you may be able to jar it free by rapping the door panel as Joe suggested. However, 'rapping' often isn't enough. Try slamming the door with all your might as you press the switch in the 'up' position. You may have to do this more than once to free a stuck window motor.
