Keyless entry

Just bought a 2003 Taurus, what all is involved in installing a Remote keyless entry system to this vehicle. Is this something a DIY could handle. Thanks

A headache.

1) It ties into the GEM module
2) Adding things on an OBDII car can open up a virtual can of worms.
3) You'll need a good wiring diagram
4) It will likely lead to problems down the road, unless a Ford OEM accessory is installed.

It is always cheaper in the long run for a factory installation on things like this.

Ford sells a "Powercode" RKE/Remote Start system for your car.

Ask your dealer about PN 2W7Z-19G364-CA.

The Ford website recommends dealer installation & I'd have to agree.

You certainly COULD do it yourself, but you'll save yourself a bunch of headaches by having the dealer do it.
