the function of the pressure regulator is to regulate fuel pressure at a set amount and return the excess back to the tank.
and is likely not causing your problem.
do you have a check engine light on?
stopping as engine dies or just bogs down?

yes, check engine light is on. truck will start , drive a little way and then stop. Engine shuts off. All of the pressing on the excelerator won't help to pick up again. then all of a sudden it starts again. truck has 80, 000 miles recently tuned up and changed all belts, etc. thanks

you should start by having the codes read and find out why the check engine light is on if you have an autozone in your area you can see if they can retrieve the codes for you, the codes that are retrieved from the computer may or may not be related to the problem you are currently having but it is a starting point. if you post back with the code numbers it will probably help to determine the problem.
an intermentant problem can be hard to find sometimes depending alot on how often this problem occurs.
