Through the dipstick tube. See your owner's manual.

If it's missing, www.helminc.com can supply a new one.

thanks Joe

The car didn't have a manual.....I looked under the hood and did not see a dipstick. Ok, I saw my own reflection, but that doesn't count. Any immediate recollection on your part of where in that cramped compartment the dipstick might be?
Thanks

As you're standing in front of the car, look on the rear of the engine, left side. Sometimes the loop/handle of the dip stick is actually a little lower than the valve cover..

Of course back then, they painted the thing black, to make it blend in with everything else soooo well...
