serp belt- 1997 lumina

Can i change the serp belt from above? Have problems getting under the car- bad hips....

You should be able to with no problem..Best I can remember, there's no brackets in the way, no mounts or anything.. Simply pull up on the belt tensioner, remove the old belt, and put on the new one...I'd check for a diagram on the radiator support for the routing first. If there's not 1 there, draw a diagram of the belt routing before taking off the old one..Saves on some hair pulling!

I agree with MSA.

You can rent a serpentine belt tool from Autozone or Sears has them pretty reasonably to buy.

Go to the Gates Rubber website (www.gates.com)and look up a belt for your vehicle in their online parts catalog. Often, they will have the belt routing diagrams there as well if there's no sticker under the hood like MSA suggest.
