paint job

I just got finished a little paint job on my truck. I sanded it and primed it and taped it off to avoid overspray and painted it. Now I have a little ridge at where the fresh paint starts where I taped it off. How can I get rid of that ridge? Any help would be appreciated.

You should have posted BEFORE you painted! We could have saved you some time.

The sharp ridge is from the masking tape. Chances are good you'll never be able to completely get rid of it. You can try wet sanding the ridge with ultra-fine (1000 grit or finer) sandpaper, followed by buffing the area with a fine compound. Allow the paint at least 1 week to cure before you try this.

To avoid this problem in the future, use 1" or 1.5" wide tape & double the tape back over itself to provide a soft, blended edge.

Also, if it's a removeable panel like a fender, take it off and paint it off the car. It will come out better.
