The sign that i remember from having a standard a long time ago was that going up hills became a hard process and it was time for a new clutch. A friend now has a problem with her 98 civic 78,000 miles. She does NOT have a problem going up hills but if you are in any gear it is "easy" to move out of a gear without even depressing the clutch pedel.....without even touching the pedal. Also there is this sound coming from the bottom of the car when you are in-between switching gears..like as u enter whatever gear u hear this rattling noise. looked under the car to see if there may be loose something....But it seems as though it has to do with the clutch. From this scanerio does it seem that the clutch is going pretty soon? Also keep in mind that recently she just had the brake pads done over....I say this cause the pads that were on it lasted like 75,000 she said she never had them done till now.....Goes to show things have lasted long on this car Thank you for any insight

The rear passenger footwell is constantly filling with rain water even when the car is left parked ! I've checked window / door seals, the underneath of the car for split and cracked welds, and the sun roof. This is becoming a major problem now as I don't seem to be able to trace the source of the leak, could it be that there is an internal drain from the sun roof which has detached or that the passenger side door/windows are in fact leaking. The roof lining and side walls of the car all seem perfectly dry eventhough there is a good quarter of an inch of water constanly lying beneath the front passenger seat and rear footwell ? Can anyone out there throw any light on this problem !
