squeaking noise
okay, on to the next problem. thanks for the help i replaced the transmission lines last night. 89 chevy baretta 2.? litre engine with ac. when the car is parked or in nuetral and is idling the car is very quiet and sounds normal. all hell breaks loose when i put the car in drive and it is idling, it sounds like a cement mixer. souds like a bearing or something squealing. it is not the belt slipping. when i turn the ac on it gets a little worse. that kind of rules out the compressor bearing. the noise goes away when i start driving and the engine rpm's go up. then when stopped at a stoplight it comes back. any suggestions what this could be. it is just weird that it is not there when the car is idling in park or nuetral. thanks for any help.

Try taking the belt off momentarily and running it. See if the noise goes away. If it does, it's accessory/belt related.
Try that first.
