Hypoy C ???

I'm redoing the front end on my "88 Dodge, 3/4 ton 4x4 and am going to clean and relube the diff's.
Manual calls for 90 w straight gear oil but my local dealer only sells Castrol Hypoy C 80w-90.
Castrol shows this as a premium regular oil that will work in anything. Is this so?
My dealer wants 12.00 cdn for a 4 litre jug of hypoy but I can get a 20 litre pail of straight 80w90 gear oil at Wallmart for $29.00 cdn.
Previous owner didn't do much mtc. so after cleaning and refilling I will drain in a couple of hundred km to flush, drain and refill.

What do y'all think?

Greg:

Try a GOOD auto parts store such as one that sells to the trade. They should have what you want. I know my parts store is a master lubrication distributor and they've never been out of a lubricant I wanted.

Stick with what the OEM wants---there's reasons! .
