sometimes in the morning. never hear them when driving straight ahead or backing up at other times.
anybody got any thoughts on this?

Type of vehicle? Last time the brakes were done? What has been changed back there?

Sometimes, it's the quality of the parts.

More normal occurence: Rust builds up on the pads overnight and is burned off within the first couple of braking cycles. Normal and no cause for concern really.
