Code Scanner

I have a code scanner( ford,lincoln,mercury, 1981-1995) my brother used on his 89 ranger could I use this for my 2000 ranger 2.5 liter.

No.

The 2000 Ranger is OBDII and requires a different scanner/reader.

SOME of the earlier ones have OBDII adapters, but they can cost just as much as buying a new current reader that does both .

OBD II scanners will cost you around $150. Depending on the type of scanner you have, you might be able to replace the cartridge and cable for around $50.00 that will read your Ranger.
