Clearing CE Light

Just a quick question please. Without renting a reader or sending my vehicle into the dealer, does anyone know how to clear the check engine light on a 1999 Dodge Dakota SLT 5.3 ltr V8 4x4 Ext Cab? Long story short, the trouble will be rectified ASAP but am needing to get the vehicle appraised. Don't worry, I will not sell a defective vehicle, that is just not me.

Thanks for your help.

Autozone can clear the codes for free with a reader...

By the time you hit the parking lot's edge, the light will return. The problem must be fixed or the light will likely return.

Fix the problem then appraise the vehicle.

depending on what is really wrong with the car, to cause the light to come on, it could take a week to .01 of a second for the light to come back on, over a hundred things could directly cause this.

i hope you meant a 5.2 or 5.9, not 5.3L

could you put a piece of electrical tape over the light for now, you wouldn't believe the amount of cars that come in like that.
