Bypassing Check Engine Light for Emissions Test

I live in Georgia and we are required to have emissions control testing prior to paying ad valorem taxes to get a new sticker. My car has been displaying the check engine light for some time now. We have had it a three different places and they say there is nothing wrong and they reset the switch. I had the switch reset today in order to do the testing. My car failed, but with no codes. What can I do now?

Take it to someone competent. The check engine light doesn't come on to be reset. It comes on due to an emissions failure. There is obviously a problem if it keps coming back on. What type of vehicle is it? Can you go to autozone or somewhere similair and ask them to help you retrieve any DTC'S? (Trouble codes stored in the computer)

The cause of the light is probably why the vehicle failed. If the light is on, there's a code stored. Find it and correct the source of the problem.
