Radiator Corrosion

I asked a guy at the radiator shop why it is that the radiator on my car, which is 21 years old, looks almost like new with no visible corrosion, while on my sons car, 8 years old, there have been leaks twice and there is visible corrosion. Both are brass radiators. He said a lot of problems are caused by electric currents, but didn't know exactly what that entails.
What causes electric currents to corrode a radiator and what can you do to prevent electric corrosion?

Umm, cooling system cleanliness depends on regular maintenance such as yearly coolant changes and flushes .

Chances are you have maintained your cooling system better than the next guy .

It would help to know the type of vehicle as well.
