rover 214i clutch and accelerator

Hi, I'm new to this forum so please be gentle!

I would be greatful if anyone could advise me on the following 2 problems I have. I've just bought a Rover 214i, 2 problems which are starting to annoy me with it though...firstly the clutch pedal is so stiff and jerky when u press it and bring it up to find the bite, which makes life hard when setting off. And secondly when traveling along and you release the accelerator suddenly and car judders. Any advice would be much appreciated.

We don't get that here in the States, really can't help all that much.

When was the last time the clutch was adjusted or replaced? Start there.

When was the last time it saw a tuneup? Mileage? Vehicle's history? Engine size? Fuel Type?
