Heater/AC Fan Switch - '99 Chevy Malibu

I have a '99 Chevy Malibu (V6 - "M" in the VIN, in case it matters). The heater/AC fan only works in positions 3, 4, and 5, and not in position 1 or 2. Perhaps coincidentally, the lightbulb in between the fan switch and the temp selector knob isn't working. I checked all fuses that had anything to do with the heater/AC/fan, and then every fuse in the car, and all were fine.

Is the switch going bad, or could it be something else? If the switch needs to be replaced (along with the lightbulb?), is it difficult to access?

Many Thanks!

Sounds like a failed blower resistor. Hit the dealer's parts counter for the part and location from their parts catalog. Then you will know what you are up against.
