The reason they seize is the parking brake mechanism. when you engage the parking brake it pulls a lever that turns a screw to engage the piston. When the screw get corroded it freezes. Fix: pull the caliper and soak in oil overnight. Put the parking brake lever in a vise and start to turn it back and forth. eventually it will free itself untill you get about 3/4 of a turn. keep working it untill it moves freely and apply plenty or brake lube..Note!: do not turn it all the way in or you can pop out the piston..Note!: try to use the parking brake regularly to keep everything moving freely and avoid problems in the future
