brake lights

1986 dodge pickup....brake lights work until taillights are turned on....any ideas? thanks in advance!

pull the rear tail lamps out and check the ground wire to the sockets, almost always the ground breaks inside the socket and you will have to wedge it back together with a toothpick(from the back)

if not, substitute a ground wire to the socket base and see if they work as normal, this means the ground is missing somewhere else.

this will only work if you have the CORRECT bulbs in there, double check the easy stuff first, it should have two terminals on the bottom of the bulb.

I'd agree with that one! LOL.

Chrysler sockets are BAD for ground problems and even so much so that the aftermarket now offers a full complete socket for some applications where Chrysler has an "erector set" (terminal, shell, wires, etc).

I think Mike knows which type of applications I'm referring to. LOL.
