Idle learn procedure??

I understand that there is an idle learn procedure (below) on GM cars after the battery gets disconnected. My question is, if the procedure is not done or perhaps done incorrectly, will the computer eventually re-learn itself after a couple days of driving anyway?

With key off, disconnect battery for at least 30 seconds.
Reconnect battery. Do not touch throttle (ECM looks for 0% throttle openings).
Start the engine and shift to D. Run for ten minutes or until cooling fan cycles.
Shut off engine. Wait 30 seconds.
Restart. Run 5 minutes in D or until cooling fan cycles.
Check idle speed. (Note: the ECM can only learn eight IAC counts per key cycle).
Repeat procedure if not correct.

IT MIGHT RELEARN ITSELF....

KEEP IN MIND THIS APPLIES ONLY TO THE 1ST GENERATION 2.8 AND 3.1 V-6, 1987-1993. NOT POSITIVE ABOUT THE END YEAR, VIN CODES W AND T.
