I HAVE A 1983 CADILLAC THAT ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR ,NO HEAT AT ALL.IT HAS A ELECTRONIC CONTROL. NEW THERMOSTAT & HEATER CONTROL VALVE.WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE?

electronic climate control head is probably bad. 20 years of use? you are fortunate. These can be removed and checked/repaired for about 100 bucks. "If" you could get a new one, you are looking at 3-400 bucks. Plus half an hour labor. Need to find someone who has a wireing schematic, perhaps they can check it out for you. My opinion.

is this a beautiful example of a HT4100, gm did their homework when they designed this one. i know every nut and bolt on that engine(sad to say)
make sure that when the engine is warmed up, that both heater hoses are piping hot, feel them with your hand
these atc heads are not the most reliable things, but check the basics first(hot hoses)

I agree with Mike from NJ. Check to ensure hoses are BOTH hot. On a 1983 (20 yrs) it is quite possible to have enough sludge in your heater core that hardly any flow goes through, was impressed when I flush out other vehicles on just how much does acummulate! Before getting too deep into expensive controls, ensure good flow. I try every 5 years to change coolant AND flush the lines through the heater core via a garden hose and a copper pipe threaded connection soldered onto a 3/4 inch copper short length of pipe to clamp the heater hose onto; disconnect the other heater hose and run to a bucket. At first you can capture the old antifreez that flushes out, then after it clears take the hose to the ground and open the water flow full to throughly flush it. For good measure I also swap the heater hoses to backflush also.
At least you'll get a good idea of the flow through the core this way, and if still the controls you'll get a lot more heat than you had before out of it!
Wish you luck!

kidsgolf----easier than that, i take off both hoses, put a rubber tipped blow-gun on one pipe and an old anti-freeze jug over the other. this way i catch all the chunks and can show the customer what was in there. i found that compressed air is a better cleaner than just a garden hose. this makes cars with marginal to warm heat become HOT.

I want to thank you for all of your help first. I have checked all the hoses and all are hot .i have a mechanic on it he said the new heater control valve that he put on could be bad ,but hes not sure. we will check everything you guys suggested and i'll reply back . Again thank you misty
