Moldy Smell

Moldy Smell

Recently the interior of my car wreaks of mold. It's not wet. What's the best way to get rid of the smell?

Mold tends to stay with a car forever for the most part.

Try some moth balls or cleaning the affected area. Once it's there, it's gonna stink for good, really.

You likely DO have a water leak somewhere.

Pull up the floor carpet, betcha find water. Unless some one left the window open in one H----- rain storm. That smell will impregnate every piece of cloth material in the car.

I do vaguely recall the car interior getting wet sometime ago during a rain storm secondary to as you said the windows being left open.

If the odor is due to the a/c evaporator, (mold, etc), then it will go away this winter when it freezes outside and the mold dies, assuming you live in such a location.
