can anyone tell me where the oil scending unit is on this engine?

Defective sending unit or internal engine failure/clogged oil pump pickup/increased bearing clearance.

Measure the engine oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. If it matches the specs in the shop manual, the sender is likely bad. Any parts store will have one.

If the oil pressure with the mechanical gauge is low, the oil pump pickup could be clogged or there is internal engine failure. Rebuild time if this is the case.

Fords use a "dummy gauge". They do not read actual engine oil pressure. Their gauge is a glorified light.

No idea what model year you are speaking of, seems sometime back there were TSB's or recalls on some sending units.
