Mazda 929 Rear Main

My rear main oil seal is leaking on this REAR wheel drive sedan. The dealer has quoted me a price around 600 to fix it. Does this sound reasonable? I don't mind paying a bit more for dealer service since if they run into something they'll at least have easy access to parts. On a car like this, how is the rear main fixed? Tranny out? I hate to get rid of the car just for this as otherwise it's a great runner. Tried sealant in a can, didn't help and I don't want to use a lot of that crap in an otherwise very good motor.
Thanks for any advise.

Get a second opinion at a shop, but depending on the labor hours, sounds about right. One of these jobs where a $10 seal is all labor.
