my 93 e350 ford transmission leaked very badly on last trip when i crawled under i saw a plastic ring with a rubber seal was on drive shaft coming out of trans would this have caused leak is it that simple?

Last time I looked an E350 wasn't a "truck" it was a light truck...

Original poster: Sounds like a rear main seal problem and yes, that will cause problems and leaking like a fountain.

Most probably. Remove Drive shaft, remove seal and install a new one. Easy, but you should obtain a seal driver for this.

yes that sounds like the out put shaft seal. that is the seal at the rear of the tranny. when you get the part if you say rear main seal, you'll get funny looks or get the rear main oil seal for the engine.
