Noisy Lifter

Noisy Lifter
92 Dodge Dynasty
3.3L Automatic
My question is,
how hard is it to reach a noisy lifter on the 92 Dodge 3.3L engine? Will this require a major mechanical teardown or is it accessible simply from under the valve cover?
The Haynes manual doesn't seem to give me much information.
I fear the worst, and I've already spent more than the car is worth on repairs.
Thanks,
-Stephen

it requires more than just valvecover removal to replace, if it is just making noise you should atleast try an oil additive such as rislone to see if it might help clean up any passages and allow oil back to the lifter it will probably take a couple of weeks to work if its going to.
if the engine is missing you may have another problem with the valve train causing excessive lash inspection of the valvetrain with valve covers removed can sometimes reveal the problem.

I'd leave it alone. If there's no mechanical reasons to be inside the engine, let it go. Not worth it for a noisy lifter
Throw some Marvel Mystery Oil in there with each oil change and it should quiet down for the most part.
How often do you change the oil and filter on this?

Your Responses - Noisy Lifter
To All, thanks for your responses
Bijay and Daryl,
The rislone that I had purchased said only to use for 5 minutes prior to changing the oil at an idle, which I did (a little longer actually). Q) Are you saying there is a rislone that is supposed to be used over an extended period of time?
Also, I had used the CD-2 for Quieting Noisy lifters a few times now at each oil change. 10,000 miles have passed, but there seems to be no change at all.
Joe,
I changed the oil and filter religiously at 3000 miles. As far as I am aware, its just making noise. However, I will try the mystery oil (I just changed the oil, but left some room to add another additive).
But Joe, I must ask, what is the long term effect of such a noisy lifter?
I had also used slick50 (at first) & later Duralube for its metal coating effect.

yes the rislone in a yellow bottle you just leave in until its due for an oil change probably cost around 2- 3 dollars.
suspect the additive you added thinned the oil so much that it would of not of provided enough lubrication to the bearings under any type of load.
