Fix-A-Gauge

Anybody ever bought a shunt from Fix-A-Gauge? (www.fix-a-gauge.com)
Did it fix your problem?

Oil Pressure Gauge is reading low. Don't want to spend $50 to replace w/ OEM. Chevy says $35 but doesn't have it any longer.

What gauge are you looking for? What's it for? Option codes, etc?

D.D. Did you explore the possibility the guage may be right? Might want to check actual pressure and see, it may also be a sending unit, they are a lot less than 50 bucks.

Have aftermarket mechanical gauge mounted under the hood now. Don't want to mount one inside, looks hokey. Oem electrical sending unit is now new and correct resistance(s) is reaching the OEM Gauge.

I'd bet the gauge might still be available or an OEM one NOS can be found.......I can try to find it if I know a part # or what it's for..

Aftermarket gauges to me look hokey. Nothing like the clean look of the OEM gauge....

If you want OEM, check out a junk/wrecking yard. Super cheap.

Dan, what you're doing is seriously not smart, hooking up a mechanical gauge under the hood. If the connection comes off or melts you will lose the engine. Put it in the cabin where you can see it until you replace it with the proper gauge. $50 as compared to an engine will seem cheap if that gauge goes south.

Junkyard gauges are too much of a gamble on old vehicles. I'm not going to pull the instrument panel twice. This is for '89 chevy burb.

Gauge and tubing under hood is fine.
Temp install anyway. I found an OEM gauge through LMC. Supposed to be in today via UPS. I think I'll order the Fix-a gauge part (I think it's around $8) and try it when I swap out my old one just to see what happens. Voltage meter is weak, I might try it on that if applicable.
I'll let you know what I find out.

Have to think this gauge is still around from a GM dealer or Delco distributor and can be had reasonably .

Price is decent for OEM. I didn't do a world-wide dealer hunt but did have 2 tell me no longer available. I'm just wondering if the $8.00 fix is worth looking at. I've got the sending unit's output values from GM. I'll look at the old gauge when I pull it and see if this shunt makes a difference.
