Wont Start...

I have an 1984 buick regal 231 v6 3.8l

When I tried to start the car it would turn over but wouldnt start, then it would finally cath and start....

I tried this morning, the car turns but will not start, several tries, it acts as if it wants to but dosent.

Could someone please tell me what process of elimination for this problem I should do.

Thank you in advance

This could be a few things Is it getting fuel? Might be bad distributor cap and rotor, plugs and wires. This is probably going to turn out ot be a process of elimination for you!!

the process of elimination starts with hooking up the choke mechanism stuff you just unhooked to make it idle. it might just be related?

hold the gas pedal on the floor and try to start it, if it finally catches, and starts with a huge cloud of black smoke, you found your answer(and if it does start, you should seriously consider changing the oil)

Assuming you haven't flooded the piss out of it already and Mike's suggestion doesn't work, start with my "The Basics".

If it hasn't seen a complete tune up in a while, it wouldn't hurt.
