96 Chrysler Sebring Wipers

The wipers are making a loud screeching noise even after I changed the blades. Is there something that needs to be cleaned and/or lubricated? If so how do I get to it? Thanks

It's possible you have a linkage problem, but try cleaning the blades and glass with rubbing alcohol and we will go from there.

If it is blade squeak, as davo says clean glass and wipers thoroughly. Use a good quality blade preferbly natural rubber ones.

Windshield Wiper Problem Followup

I tried that before I replaced the old blades with new rubber ones. Appreciate in advance any further suggestions.

is the noise actually the wiper blades?

can you lift the blades from the windshield and eliminate the noise?

Lifting blades from window eliminates noise

Yes the noise is eliminated when I lift the wiper arms/blades from the window & turn them on.

does it make the noise you hear when spraying the windshield with water, if not its a normal condition.
if it still makes the noise suspect linkage or possibly even a bad motor, check linkage for excessive play or binding if none found suspect bad wiper motor.
