Is the battery going dead after sitting idle for 2 days or 2 days of driving?

seen problems like you describe. Car will start every day if it is run every day, 2 or 3 days idle, no go. bad cell in battery. Not impossible that you dont have a bad battery or alternator. I'd check battery and alt output first. If it is to specs, Run a test lite between the neg cable and neg post, or neg cable and ground. You may have a slight glow due to clock, radio memory, etc. . If it is fairly bright, remove one fuse at a time and see if it has any effect on the bulb. If not, disconnect the alt, then the starter and see. Time consuming but I have found them this way.
