does anyone know a repair method for re-attaching sagging overhead cloth? the material is in good condition and I don't want to remove it to re-attach it. thanks.

Generally it's the adhesive or the base material that causes the separation hence the sagging.Removing inspecting the headliner is the only real answer unless you want to use thumtacks or staples for a temporary repair.

thumb tacks

I have used thumb tacks with good results. If you space them right it can look good.
They come in colors also.

never had any luck...

...with tacks or the like. find someone who does alot of headliner recovering and take it to them. you can save quite a bit if you take it out yourself...i had a two piece one done in a van i used to own and altho it was quite a bit of work, the actual cost of having someone recover it was only $75...well worth my time. good luck whichever route you choose...
