Steering problems on a 92 ford taurus

I have a 1992 Ford Taurus. Every time I make a left hand turn, the steering gets stuck and i have to jerk the wheel back to the right to straighten it. I also hear a loud knock noise when i turn and hit bumps in the road. I think i need a new cv boot or maybe new ball joints. What might all be wroing with this car?????

Most likely you have a bad Rack and pinion or a bad upper strut bearing and plate. In order to find out you'll have to put the front wheels on turntables or just grease a piece of sheel metal then disconnect the tie rods and see how free the wheel turns both directions without the tie rods connected.
