95 pontiac gr. am heater core

i was a 3 year mechanic, now i'm not... this is really buggin me though. 95 pontiac gr. am / QUAD 4! blah the heater core is almost visible at this point, but not sure what all needs to be removed. I have the shifter housing out of the way but the heat shroud around the core appears to have all screws removed but still stuck. Also i already have hoses removed and coulped so it is still driveable, but my wife gets cold easy.... HELP

There is a duct to remove then remove all the screws from the lower tray. There are a couple right up close to the firewall that are hard to get at. Don't force it and crack the tray. You'll have a leak forever.
If you want to drive it in the meantime, join the hoses together with a plastic coupler. One side is 5/8 and the othert is 3/4. The make plastic unions to do that with.

When he says hard to get at he means you can't see them you have to feel for where they are. They are in holes in the cover not flush to the surface.
