Wet floor 92 Cavalier
Does anyone have a similar problem with late model Cavaliers pooling water in back seat foot well. If so, what did you do to fix it? Thanks, any help would be great.

I am not a professional. But I have heard the heater cores on these cars (Pontiac Sunbirds/Chevy Cavaliers) fail often. Does the leak happen even if it sat in a dry place (garage or if it hasn't been rained on for a long time?)
If so, it is probably a ruptured heater core.

back floor
What gets me is the post says back floor well does not say drivers side or passanger side.Either way if it was a heater core it would be on the front floor well pass side.

Leaky back glass, bad door gasket, door drain plugged, missing plugs in floorboard, bad body seam seal, bad trunk lid gasket. Take a friend to the car wash, set in back then use the wash wand. You may even have to remove the back seat. Leaks show up sometimes in the most obvious places. That much water shouldn't be difficult to find. If its been doing that a long time, better remove the floor matt and see if the floorboard is damaged with rust.

Water leaks can be very tricky to isolate to source. The best way is to use a hose while another person is in the car with a good flashlight. Start with the hose in the taillight area and slowly work forward. It could be a leaking back or quarter glass or a body seam in the roof somewhere or a weatherstrip.
One time we had a new Buick Park Ave. at the glass shop that had a water leak in the trunk. The leak spot source was clear up in the front of the roof seam by the windshield. The water ran across the inner roof brace and into the trunk. It took 3 days for us to isolate and fix.

You'll likely have to remove the back seat and lift the carpet tp see which direction it's coming from. The trail leading to the back floor can be a long one sometimes originating as far back as the trunk and running forward. Find the stain trail and follow it.

time to inspect
This is the time to inspect yourself Tools required will be a strong flashlight like a Mag light will require two people the other one must be one you can trust to let you out of the trunk.
get a garden hose you or your friend who ever is smaller get in close and spray the back.
look around all seals back lights etc.It is best to gut trunk of all items in it like spare tires etc.
Do the same with the cabin of the car spray the windows, doors etc.I am betting you have a bad seal someplace. You dont have any rust holes do you?

Always start low with the garden hose and work up from there slowly move forward from the back towards the front. You might as well remove your seats and carpet now because your carpet needs to be dried out now(right now)and be reinstalled after the leak is repaired and rechecked.I'm leaning towards the rear window myself. Is the water clear or dirty? If it's dirty it's coming off the road while driving. Please keep us posted to the fix or more help.
