ALternator issue mod for 1957 chevy
I have a 12SI 94 amp alternator on my 1957 chevy the the question is... Do I need a resistor in line from the ignition switch to the alternator (small wire). There are some diagrams showing one "resisotor" and I have seen one without it. I don't know which way to go ...with a resistor or without a resistor. I have looked everywhere to find a diagram but can't... Thanks George...

No, it is a ballast resistor I wired it in years ago, maybe not knowing it was or was not the right thing to do. The ballast resistor I used in the line coming from the acc. side of the ignition switch is the one you would use in the ignition system of the old 57's. This car is modified show car and I wired it from past experience but I have never been real sure about the charging system wiring all of these years. It is not a diode or a noise suppressor for sure.
Does anyone have a charging diagram of a 12si alternator for a chevrolet maybe a 1984 thru 1987...???
Thanks George...
