Red face 1998 GMC Sierra C1500 Ext cab

My Gmc truck has almost 200,000 miles on it. while driving it at 55 mph, it started acting like it was running out of gas (it had a 1/2 tank of gas) and it died and wouldn't restart. Could this be a fuel pump?

May want to replace the fuel filter. How many miles on the existing one?

Check for fuel pressure and spark at 2 plugs then we will be able to help more.Does it crank like it has compression?Try shooting some starting fluid in the air intake and attempt to start does that make it run and stall?
