th350 transmission

I have a th350 transmission in a 1980 El Camino. The transmission was rebuilt about 4 months ago and has worked fine.
The shifter had a lot of play in it. Upon further inspection I found that the rod that sticks thru the side of the transmission had a lot of play in it. I took the pan down after draining all the fluid out and found tha the nut on the opposite end of that rod had come loose. I tightened the nut and reinstalled the pan and transmission fluid.
Now the problem, I don't seem to have a neutral and when in park the transmission seems to be in gear at the same time. When in park I can only rev the engine as high as the torque converter will let it go.
I haven't tried to drive the car.
Any ideas?

I drained the fluid back out and pulled the transmission pan back off.
I found that the s-link had come from together. I reinstalled this and every thing is fine.

thanks anyway
