Can a Pot hole bend a Rim?

Can hitting a deep pot hole at 70mph bending a rim and mess up a tire?

Once a rim is bent, can a shop fix it or does it have to be replaced?

Not only do they bend a rim, they deflate the tire. Replace the rim.

I hit a hole in my 73' SS Nova... bent both drivers side "Corvette Rally Wheels" they were ruined. I know there are shops that will straighten steel wheels but it could possibly cost more than it's worth.

Actually I suggest checking all the suspension components for damage and getting an alignment after replacing the wheel and tire.

Merchants checked it today and said the front end is fine, alignment is OK, and the alloy rim and tire are OK to drive for now (safer than putting the donut on), and to replace the rim from salvage (I'm NOT letting SON get a new set of rims out of this!), and the tire should be fine. Sounds like he got out VERY lucky!

The damage appears to be on the outer rim only.

I would be concerned of the tire. Keep a close eye on it, the damage could be to the cords and not evident on the out side or inside. 70 mph is pretty fast hitting a pot hole!

Did the tire deflate?
